Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Rural Schools Near Pune India

During 2023 and 2024, the Pune Tilak Road Rotary Club and the Stillwater Sunrise Rotary Club are collaborating on a global grant project to build toilet facilities and install water purification systems for four schools in rural areas near Pune, India. The Pune club has a long history of successful projects in towns in the area (see their video!), and knows how to build relationships with community leaders in the towns where they serve. In 2009, the two clubs collaborated on another successful sanitation and school facilities project in the nearby town of Mangaon.

9/13/23 - Many clubs in district 5960 have joined with Stillwater Sunrise Rotary on this excellent project, including:

• Forest Lake
• Greater Rochester
• West St. Paul/Mendota Heights
• Rochester Risers
• Faribault
• Lakeville ($1000!)
• Northfield

And several more are working on approving their participation in the project.

Update

9/11/23 - At the most recent team meeting, we consolidated our estimate and quote information and we now only need to estimate a new requirement for a septic tank in Baramati prior to the municipal sewer connection. Not unexpected, the cost has increased and the total project is approaching $70,000. With the final quote, and completion of our funding analysis, we'll proceed with the grant application.
