Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education (S.T.R.I.V.E)

This major service project of Sunrise Rotary is a program connecting Stillwater Area High School students with adults from the community who will engage with and encourage them during these key years of their young life. Research shows that students who have trustworthy relationships with adults who are not their parents or teachers benefit in many ways: improved self-worth, expanded perspective of the world around them, and vision for the opportunities in their future. Our experience is that through mentorship, students are inspired to excel.

Indulge Your Inner Activity Director, Plan Activities for STRIVE!

Most STRIVE sessions open with a 5-15 minute activity (like, pass a ball across a circle and share some good news) to get the students (and mentors!) moving and centered. When we can, we like these activities to dovetail with the day’s topic. If you can help plan these for STRIVE, contact the team! (click Contact, above)

Be a STRIVE Scholarship Interviewer!

  • Interviews are scheduled for Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th, 3:30-5:30pm at the high school
  • We need 12 interviewers per day, interviewing 4 students for 20 minutes sessions each
  • You'll be part of an interview team, detailed and easy to follow instructions will be provided
  • Strongly encourage non-Strive mentors to participate but mentors are welcome to sign-up as well as spouses and other adult family members
  • You can opt to participate 1 day or both

Speaker Recruiters Needed (Speakers Too!)

We still could use a couple people to be our ongoing recruiters for speakers for our STRIVE programs. Currently, we have four spring 2025 sessions to cover, and then we’ll turn our attention to the fall semester.
